Friends of the Tonto NF
Mar 08, 2018 - 1:11 PM - by joe
In the mid 90's, my heritage trout mentor and I did some riparian photo point work, as TNF volunteers, along the flood plain of Canyon creek to help monitor land disturbances to this creek. The volunteer conservation org., Friends of the Tonto NF, have formed since then and added all of the ongoing TNF riparian photo point work to their conservation agenda.

Gary passed away last Friday. One of the original members of this board, he was a father of two other AZFAT members, and served our country in Vietnam.

Some of you got to know him on our Juanuary and Hurricane trips.

Gary liked to fish.

I hope he continues practicing catch and release so there are some left for us when we join him.

Historic Trout Stockings
Mar 05, 2018 - 12:48 PM - by creekhiker
I've found some info for the White Mountains that's been dedicated toward how invasive the other species of trout are. I've been trying to find the same kind of stocking numbers and streams but for Tonto forest.

Is this information available? Maybe it doesn't get as much research as trout weren't run out of town?

Hey Guys,

Im creating a series of videos about fly fishing at walk in area at Lees Ferry including some tips and techniques to use. Here is Youtube link to part 1 below.Let me know what you think and I appreciate likes, comments, etc..

As far as the state stocking rainbows at the walkin area I think that’s another bad idea and don’t think its necessary right now. In my opinion the fishing at the “walk in “improved significantly in 2017 and my... [Read More]
