Fishing New Zealand
Sep 23, 2017 - 8:08 PM - by PaysonLazerLiner
If the stars all align as hoped, I may be traveling to New Zealand and Australia in late February. If I pull this off, I hope to spend at least a couple of weeks fishing New Zealand. I'm not too interested in fishing the salt but will focus on chasing big N.Z browns and bows. Would really appreciate any insights anyone can share about fishing there. Also, I've never heard anything at all about fresh water fishing in Australia so would welcome any comments about there as well.

Top Water Help...
Sep 21, 2017 - 10:31 AM - by BtheBlue
One of the higher lakes in the white mountains has always been pretty good to me and is my favorite place to camp and fish this time of year and into late October. Throughout the day on nymph or streamer rigs, stripping various speeds on sink tips or full sinking line or hanging under an indicator. Then early evening comes and fish are rising all over the place until dark. I change to my floating line and empty my top water fly boxes onto the water in search of a strike but nada! Should I... Tube Flies
Sep 14, 2017 - 9:34 PM - by ejcrist
Anyone around here tie tube flies? I'm just starting to get into it and ordered an HMH Spinner vice for tying them. It seems to me tube flies would do very well for Pike up at Lake Mary and probably for Bass too down here in the valley lakes. I haven't ran into very many people in AZ tying on tubes but maybe that's because most fly fisherman here seem to go after trout exclusively, and tube flies wouldn't be very applicable in that area IMO.

Frye Creek/Gila Trout Update
Sep 14, 2017 - 10:54 AM - by Fish Manager
As most are probably aware we had a wildfire blow through the Gila Trout habitat in the Pinaleno Mountains in July. Surveys were completed earlier this week and the outcome for the fish and the habitat is devastating.

I'm sad to report that there were no fish sampled in either Ash Creek or Frye Creek. We were hopeful that fish had survived in these areas but the damage was much worse than we had expected. Going forward we will be assessing our options for getting fish back... [Read More]

Personal Flotation Devices

Now that these are required for use when using a pontoon boat, what kind is everyone using or could recommend? I got a friendly warning from a nice Game & Fish guy and don't want to push my luck! I'm thinking a belt type might work best.
