Need Rod Repaired
Sep 05, 2018 - 7:42 AM - by PaysonLazerLiner
I have an older 7.5 -4 wt Sage-2 pc. Sage that I've managed to break my tips off (I actually have 2 different tip sections and broke both of them over the last several years.) Apparently, Sage has changed their repair policy and it would now cost me over $125 each to get a new tip section. Is there anyone out there that could repair them for a more modest cost? I have the broken tip sections. Thx.

Umpqua EZ Meal caterpillar
Jul 25, 2018 - 8:43 PM - by mookee54
Umpqua EZ meal caterpillar fly. Fishing a small creek in NW AZ, tried all my usually productive flies without a bite so thought I'd try this "caterpillar". Hits on about every 2-3 casts - caught the same one 3 times. Caught and released about a dozen or so in less than an hour with some pretty agressive takes. A week later, fishing on Clear Creek N. of Golden CO. Tried 3 fly rigs that the local fly shop recommended (no takes at all but I'm used to the AZ creeks - much different than... [Read More]

Heroes - John McCain

Ladie and Gents,

This is so far off topic, I'm sure it will be deleted but I can't resist the opportunity to talk about Mr. McCain. Before I do, I want to tell you a story that happened to me while I was a Department of Defense civilian in Kandahar, Afghanistan for six months in 2009.

I was administering DoD contracts. We were tying up loose end for changing contractors from Kellogg Brown and Root to DynCorp. At the end of a meeting with both contractors, I... [Read More]

Kinniknick Lake
Aug 23, 2018 - 7:57 AM - by Bucksnort
I may have mentioned this, last year. Last spring, I planned my first week long outing to Kinnicknick, Ashurst, the Mary Lakes and others. I arrived at Long Lake to find chocolate milk water. All the others were the same so I went home early.

While driving out of Kinniknick Lake, I spotted a small lake to my left. The water looked clear so I drove the 1/4 mile or so to the lake. I was thrilled I found super clear water. I did not see rises and I did not fish the lake. ... [Read More]

Ashurst Lake 8-18-18
Aug 19, 2018 - 5:58 PM - by Flyfisher20"
It was a great morning. Landed five big Rainbows and lost one scary pike at my toes. All Rainbows were about 18". The Pike was closer to 24". It literally pulled my float tube around in a circle. All fish were hooked on a variety of streamers. Brown, black, and silver. All fish caught in the far southern end of lake. Water quality poor. Algae and large beds of weeds. Lighting and rain ran me off about 12:30 pm.
