Popper tutorials
Dec 18, 2018 - 8:25 AM - by david vaughn
On my latest Pinterest feed, I came across multiple sources of turning poppers from foam, cork, bass and balsa woods using a Dremel tool. It energized me into saving the sites for near future use and look forward to making a motorcycle ride to the Valley for materials.

This will be a first for me, both making and turning poppers enmasse. Also, something to do once the Rim waters freeze over which will keep my float tube mostly dry for our 2 week winter season.

Nearing the end of Rim country Tiger Safari's...
Dec 06, 2018 - 8:24 AM - by david vaughn
Well, with pretty much nothing to do yesterday afternoon, I opted to take a little drive up on to the Rim and check icing on Woods and Willow Springs. The Rim Road is fairly free of snow/ice/slush, and is passable with a 2WD vehicle. A friend suggested not taking the entire FR 300 Road, unless I had 4WD due to the amount of snow/ice/slush/mud throughout the entire 40+ miles of roadway. While talking to a very nice AZG&F game warden near JD Dam, last week, he gave me a very good idea. We were talking about these game warden shows and how many anglers/hunters they encounter who have a license but don't have it with them. Many wardens will use their radios or computers to verify the license.

He suggested, which I have now done, to use your smart phone and make a photo of your license. If you are in a remote area without your license and where there is no... [Read More]

New Species of Brown Trout discovered in Scotland
Dec 02, 2018 - 8:37 AM - by Silver Creek
”The study, led by Prof Eric Verspoor, found four genetically, ecologically and visually distinctive species that have evolved in the loch over the last 10,000 years.

One of the species, a “Profundal Benthivore", has not as yet been reported to occur in any other loch in the brown trout's native range.“

U-40 cork sealer
Nov 28, 2018 - 9:50 PM - by AJacks
Does anyone seal their cork with this stuff? How has it worked for you?

Also I have a small chunk missing in the cork on one of my rods... about as big around as a pencil eraser but not as deep... what can be done to fix it? Or should I just get some fine sandpaper and smooth it out some?
