Other than the walk down to Chevelon, which can be done as a day trip or overnight back pack, which other fly fishing bodies of water require backpacking?

I've received a hall pass for the day and anxious to hit one of the Rim lakes for some much needed R&R.

My dilemna is which body of water to hit?

Do I want to target Tiger's in Willow Springs and discover where they are with all that water to cover?

Do I want to target Tiger's in Woods Canyon where I know to find them? See how big they've become since Christmas 2018?

Or do I want to find the solitude of Bear Canyon? Perhaps go see... [Read More]

Black River

Has anyone been to the Black River in the area where it flows under Road 25?

Is it clear or off color?

Latest report indicates flow is about 490 cfs.

Chevelon Lake

The link is for a video of an angler on Chevelon Lake. He does not pack a boat.

I guess this depends on water level but it appears there are places where a back cast with a fly rod can be done easily and some wading looks good.

This angler fishes Chevelon Creek. Does the creek look like this all the way to Woods Canyon Lake?

Friday afternoon I happened to be in the area, and took the short drive into the Day Use area (MP 284). Temps were in the low 50's around 3:00pm with light winds.

Went all the way to the end of the roadway, noting that all the snow/ice I saw on Tuesday was totally gone!
