Colorado Fly Fishing Trip

I am headed to Silverthorne near Breckenridge in 2 weeks to do some fly fishing after handling some work stuff. I will have 4 days to fish so I hope to spend a lot of time on the River. I am going to do a float trip one of the days with a local guide and am looking forward to that! I will not have a boat or anything like that everything else will be on foot. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am open to doing a bit of driving but would like to stay near that area.

Looking for someone to tie up a dozen or so of an extremely simple nymph pattern for me this weekend. I can supply material and hooks - you need thread, vise, tools. Fair $$$. NW Valley location.

Still Water Fishing

My preferred method of fishing for trout in lakes is to cast a nymph of some sort to rising fish. I also troll with larger subsurface patterns and switch to dry flies when necessary.

A few years ago, I met a lunker hunter angler who, in still water, uses a dry dropper or a strike indicator with a nymph below. He told me I would never catch them on a straight line method (casting to fish). I didn't respond but wanted to tell him about Del Canty's five world record fish he... [Read More]

Anyone fish with their dogs?
Apr 16, 2017 - 10:41 AM - by Eyedeas
Hey everyone!
I have a couple questions to ask.
1) do any of you bring your doggies along on fishing/hunting trips?
2) If you do, do you use any sort of GPS collar?
3) Would you have a recommendation for a collar?
4) Has anyone taken their dog to a snake training class and do you also have a recommendation there?

I've got an almost 2 year old Black Mouth Cur who is actually bred for cattle herding and hunting. She LOVES to get outside and... [Read More]

While re-re-re-re-organizing my flies into the ones guaranteed to catch fish and ones not guaranteed to catch fish, I came across a handful of Mysis shrimp. I don't understand, I have only one pile of flies. Are Mysis shrimp found anywhere in Arizona? I've never used a Mysis shrimp anywhere. So why do I have them? It's kinda like guns, you can't have too many patterns and you just never know when you will need one.
