Lakes in AZ High Country
Jan 22, 2017 - 8:48 PM - by Bucksnort
Sorry to bother you again with questions about AZ fly fishing.

One thing I noticed right away in the AZ fishing regulations are the pages dedicated to the various regions. In the north central region, I see about 30 bodies, most of which appear to be small lakes. There are some around Prescott, a few around Flagstaff and a handful to the southeast of Flagstaff.

Do any of you have experience on these lakes?

I purchased some Forest Service maps... [Read More]

Stream Flows
Jan 15, 2017 - 9:46 PM - by Bucksnort
I'm curious about stream flows in Arizona.

I'm learning about Arizona fly fishing so knowing where water in streams and rivers comes from is important. In Colorado, no water flows into the state with two exceptions. One is the Green River, which dips in for a short distance in the extreme northwest and the North Platte River, which also dips into the northern part of the state then makes a quick exit. Fly fishing the ponds at PIR Gila River
Jan 22, 2017 - 7:31 PM - by Flyfisher20"
First bass caught at the PIR area. Olive leach enticed two small bass to strike. Very crowded on a Sunday morning. Nice to be able to wet a line right in town.

Brown trout slaughter at Lees Ferry
Jan 13, 2017 - 12:54 PM - by Dave T
Lees Ferry, on of Az's premier fly fishing destinations is under attack! The National park service at Glen Canyon ordered the slaughter of brown trout. This was done without public notice, or any data to show browns from Lees Ferry travel 80 miles downstream where their precocious chubs live. Where is the outrage?

Who Are You?

This is optional of course. Some folk would rather keep to themselves. I'm cool with that.

However, I'll Start.

My name is Mike M. and I was born in Tucson in 1969. I am a 3rd generation Arizonan and father of a 4th. I have spent a couple years in Texas and Oregon.

My family was always into the outdoors and made frequent trips all over the state, particularly the White Mountains since we had family up there.

I started fishing when I was a... [Read More]
